of collections, both varied and beautiful.

When friends meet … hearts warm.

The Wildflower Garden Club enjoys informative field trips, programs, socializing and lunch.
Our key focus is to always strive to go to interesting places all around the area. We enjoy learning about plants, traveling to different locations around the area, and most of all we enjoy the friendships we gain through gardening.
Enjoy nature’s bounty and beauty
through work and creativity.

We are a diverse collection of enthusiasts dedicated to promoting the love of gardening! As a group, we are patio gardeners, vegetable gardeners, pollinator gardeners, perennial gardeners, houseplant gardeners, and woody plant gardeners. There may even be more than one of us who has a struggling philodendron tucked away in a corner of the house. We just can’t bear to let plants die!
What draws us together is our desire to learn. We want to know more about ecology, environmental responsibility, design, horticulture, conservation, beautification, and all things related to gardening. To that end, we plan a vibrant monthly schedule which offers members the opportunity to visit places of interest and participate in gardening activities. We have taken field trips to Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens, Klehm Arboretum, Anderson Japanese Gardens, and many beautiful private gardens. During the warm months, we are often treated to tours of members’ gardens. We laugh and learn and enjoy one another at each meeting.
We are very fortunate to live in the Rock River Valley where there are abundant places to visit, learn, and enjoy. We welcome novice and experienced gardeners to our club.

This year our club will be celebrating 46 years of gardening
together! The Potpourri Club enjoys a ‘potpourri’ of experiences.
The Potpourri Garden Club is comprised of diverse, fun members who enjoy learning about and preserving nature. Our programs are varied and include opportunities to explore gardens and natural settings as well as garden centers, making garden art and meeting others who also enjoy playing in the dirt! Some members also volunteer at the Rock River Food Pantry, assisting clients to pick fresh vegetables from the Pantry Garden.
In past years, our schedule included a brunch at a members home followed by garden trivia, a trip to Hampshire Farms where perennial plants are grown for Home Depot, a floral design event, plant exchange, a visit to Tinker Swiss Cottage, McEachran Homestead Winery and Hoo Haven.
We love learning about new garden trends, making our own garden art such as hypertufa garden planters, bird houses and painting garden stones. We also take on important causes such as saving the Monarch’s by encouraging the planting of milk weed plants. Preserving bee habitats is another mission. Without bees we wouldn’t be able to satisfy the appetite brought on by so much gardening! All these things inspire us to keep trying new things in our gardens.
Guests are always welcome at our meetings and activities which end in some form of food and fellowship. One guest remarked at a meeting that “Everyone talks to everyone!” Interested gardeners may attend 3 activities as a guest. We usually meet the second Tuesday of the month at 10am unless there is an extra-special event being planned.

Seedlings Garden Club provides programs that are inspiring, educational and fun. Our programs offer activities for gardeners and nature lovers of all levels and experiences. There are many wonderful surprises hidden in the Rock River Valley. Our programs have included tours of prairies, home gardens, and public spaces. We have learned how to raise Monarch butterflies, made garden art, indoor and outdoor planters, and holiday table center pieces. The Seedlings Garden Club calendar is complete for 2023 and has a delightful list of programs. Please be sure to check out our schedule of activities. In 2022 Seedlings donated $100 to each of these organizations: Natural Land Institute, Klehm Arboretum, Midway Village and Severson Dells.

Wildflower members visit various greenhouses, nurseries and gardens both public and private to learn more about trees, shrubs and plants to improve our home gardens. For out of town trips, members and guests meet and carpool from various locations in town.
Wildflower members enjoy several service projects and donations to the community. Each August at our annual potluck members choose organizations to receive our monetary contributions for the year.
We have contributed a porch planter to Habitat for Humanity and have made $150 monetary donations to:
Carpenters Place
Shelter Care Ministries
Northern Illinois Food Bank
